Globally AIG is one of the largest marine insurers. As goods move across oceans, land or international borders, keeping them safe and secure becomes both increasingly important and increasingly difficult. As globalisation attracts trade with lesser developed countries, the risk of theft or damage to goods in transit continues to rise. In addition, customers today expect shorter manufacturing and distribution lead times, and business reputations and relationships are at risk if companies fail to deliver.
Confidence in prompt, reliable delivery is a simple commercial necessity. Marine insurance encompasses the safe transport of material in all its forms, whether port to port, warehouse to warehouse or from raw material to delivered product, through to the programme management of massive infrastructure projects projected thousands of miles from home shores. Marine is therefore inherently a global business. At AIG, we combine local expertise and knowledge with the quality and responsiveness of our international network, to ensure the protection of our customers’ assets and their business reputation. At AIG we offer a range of policies to meet our customers insurance and risk management needs.
AIG provide coverage for goods in transit for manufacturers, importers and exporters, commodity traders, logistics companies and more. Policies can be tailored to provide protection for pure domestic transit movements, warehouse, storage, exhibition, processing or consolidation risks. Just recently we launched our CargoGuard product for the SME market. A flexible ‘all risks’ policy for goods in transit by land, air, sea, on our online trading platform Acturis.
AIG provide a wide range of products for the people who support the marine industry through the successful transport, logistics, handling and storage of goods, including liability insurance for terminal operators, port authorities and vessel charterers and much more.
